Frequently asked questions

  • Do you provide in-person services?

All services are provided via Zoom meetings. Communication is by phone, text, and email.

  • How does payment work?

Payments are remitted in full via Paypal, Zelle, Venmo, or personal check before coaching begins. Installment plans can be worked out for the Value-Added and Unlimited Semester plans if needed.

  • What does a typical session look like?

We begin with a check-in on tasks and concepts introduced at the previous session and how they are working out for the student. If there are no pressing matters, I will introduce a new topic relevant to the student’s current work or situation. We end with scheduling the next session and agreeing on what tasks should be completed by then or what strategies should be employed by then.

  • How often do you meet?

This varies by student. Some students are good with just a 30 minute check-in per week, sometimes an hour. I try to keep sessions rather brief to be cognizant of the student’s pressing responsibilities. Some benefit from two 30-minute sessions per week. We agree on the day and time of the following session at the end of each one based on upcoming events, be it a big project or exam. I will occasionally check in with the student via email or text in between sessions.

  • What can you do for my student diagnosed with _____?

Although coaching doesn’t target specific diagnoses, much of what I teach directly or indirectly impacts an individual’s executive functions. I focus on symptoms so that efforts are focused in actionable areas. ADHD students must have some medical or nutritional control if symptoms are significant. The specific needs of students on the autism spectrum may be better served by a coach who is highly trained in those areas. I can direct you to those resources if needed. Other health professionals should be consulted for dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, language processing disorder, nonverbal learning disabilities, and visual perceptual disabilities before being considered for coaching.

  • What age group do you work with?

College students only - undergraduate and graduate. I have referrals for high school students if needed.
